I always knew they were near me. Hiding behind the spruces, wrapped in beard moss, peeking from the rushing torrents. I saw them in the shadows in the forest, in the glistening snowflakes on the ground. I could feel them. And yet I missed them. I even heard them talk. In the wind whispering through the treetops, in the snow crunching in the frost, in the small brook rippling under its moss cover. The ancient forest gods, kings long forgotten. They called me to them. And I went.
This project is my ongoing visual journey to find the ancient gods and old kings of Finnish mythology.
